Only eight years ago Google indexed its one-billionth URL, and now the search giant has announced that it has found one trillion. Google makes sure it counts only unique web pages by cutting out multiple URLs that feature the same content.
Google claims that it is now seeing several billion new URLs each day. In order to keep it indexes relevant, the company excludes many auto-generated pages that it deems to be “not very useful.” Representatives note that there is actually an infinite number of pages due to automatically generated pages seen in online calendars and other sources.
